Corporate Strategy & Business Consulting
Every business is a growth business. It requires strategic focus against a sea of change. Mint House has decades of experience helping organizations of all sizes create avenues of economic sustainability. We would love to share our process with your company.
The Mosaic Company
As the leading North American producer of phosphate fertilizer, Mosaic was faced with significant changes in the world markets. Many of the largest countries were transitioning from phosphate buyers to phosphate sellers, a market shift of hundreds of millions of dollars. Ocean shipping rates had tripled and the availability of phosphate rock in North America was diminishing potentially impacting their US based processing plants.
Mosaic brought Mint House in to conduct a series of strategic planning meetings followed by intense global research in order to chart the best path for the organization going forward. Business analytics exhibited the ability to close one of the processing plants which increased productivity performance in the remaining plants, captured better capacity usage, and resulted in significant cost reductions.
The reinsurance division of Lloyd’s of London was looking to expand their reach in the United States. Mint House recommended our strategic management process for understanding their current position in the market, competitor analysis, market trends, and the growth opportunities. The project was two fold with a deep dive in the property/casualty markets and a more surface exploration into the segmented parameters of medical insurance.
The wealth of data derived over a twelve month period provided the strategic information needed for sound decision making. The division executed the suggested activities resulting in double-digit market share growth and increased customer retention rates. In addition, insights into the medical insurance segments resulted in a strategic based decision to not enter the market.
Dirt Devil, a globally recognized vacuum brand, was experiencing sluggish sales in an increasingly crowded industry. Mint House was hired to review the entire brand, from product development to marketing programs. Although Dirt Devil had been the innovative leader with bagless technology and many other groundbreaking advancements, consumers did not associate these improvements with the Dirt Devil brand.
Mint House worked with Dirt Devil executives to obtain a true understanding of the status of the brand in its most important markets. We defined a new market position, by country, and directed all product development and all marketing activities to focus on this position.
Dirt Devil is regaining it strength in North American and is now the number one selling vacuum brand in Germany.
The ten week intense multi-disciplined programs successfully redefined Dirt Devils approach in the vacuum space.
